There are numerous books in print about parenting and family development, but few like this one, in which fathers offer their own accounts of being fathers from a startling variety of perspectives. Editors Greg Watson and Richard Broderick have masterfully gathered poignant, first-hand accounts of moments in a father's life from teething to burying; reflective poems describing the arc of fatherhood; accounts of insight, struggle, grief and delight gained while being a father; and epiphanies that occur only to parents.
Michael Dennis Browne's most recent book of poems is Chimes (Nodin Press, 2017). Two of his collections have won the Minnesota Book Award for poetry. As a librettist and lyricist he has written many texts for music, working for almost four decades with composer Stephen Paulus; To Be Certain of the Dawn, a post-Holocaust oratorio, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in music by the Minnesota Orchestra. He has recently worked with Craig Hella Johnson on the fusion oratorio Considering Matthew Shepard. Browne is an emeritus professor at the University of Minnesota, where he taught for thirty-nine years and was a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers.
Danny Klecko is a Master Bread Baker, Boxer, and Method Poet. He lives in a mansion on Summit Avenue with a Russian supermodel.
