Kate Green reads from Tourist in the Pure Land

KATE GREEN, poet, widely published Minnesota Book Award-winning writer, will read from her new book of poems TOURIST IN THE PURE LAND. She has been twice granted Poetry Fellowships from the Bush Foundation.  Her mystery novel SHATTERED MOON was nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award from the Mystery Writers of America. Kate Green will be joined by poets Cary Waterman and Taiyon Coleman.

CARY WATERMAN, poet, is the author of five books of poems. Her most recent BOOK OF FIRE was a Midwest Book Award finalist. Her poems are included in the anthologies POETS AGAINST THE WAR; and TO SING ALONG THE WAYMinnesota Woman Poets from Pre-territorial Days to the Present, as well as WHERE ONE SONG ENDS, ANOTHER BEGINS: 150 Years of Minnesota Poetry. Cary teaches in the low residency MFA program at Augsburg College in Minneapolis.

TAIYON COLEMAN is a member of Cave Canem, a national workshop for African-American poets, where she worked with Toi Derricotte, Cornelius Eady, Elizabeth Alexander, Nikky Finney, Michael Harper, Yusef Komunyakaa, and Sonia Sanchez. Her work has appeared in Ethos, Knotgrass, Sketch, Cave Canem Anthology IV and V, DrumVoices Revue, Sauti Mpya, Words Will Heal the Wound: a CD Volume II, Bum Rush the Page: A Def Poetry Jam. Recently, Taiyon was a featured reader with poet Nikki Giovanni in Chicago at the Hot House, celebrating the YWCA's national day to eliminate racism.
