Kathryn Kysar and friends

Kathryn Kysar will celebrate the release of a CD of poetry at sTb on Thursday July 10 at 7 p.m.

Joining her will be writers Kris Bigalk, Hawona Sullivan Janzen, John Minczeski, and Sun Yung Shin with musical guest clarinetist Sean Egan.

Kysar received a 2013 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative grant to make the CD of her poetry from her book, “Pretend the World,” published in 2011 by Holy Cow! Press.

Recorded at Wild Sound Studio in Minneapolis, the CD features a plethora of readers, including Minnesota Poet Laureate Joyce Sutphen, as well as musicians and singers, such as soprano Maria Jette and jazz clarinetist Sean Egan. Other readers, singers, and musicians include Stephanie Wilber Ash, Kris Bigalk, April Gibson, David Lawrence Grant, Glen Helgeson, Jim Heynen, Hawona Sullivan Janzen, Anna George Meek, Leslie Adrienne Miller,John Minczeski, Marie Olofsdotter, Susan Power, and Ka Vang.
