Dan O' Brien and Ed Bok Lee

DAN O’BRIEN is a playwright, poet, and librettist. His play, The Body of an American, received the inaugural Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama, as well as the PEN Center USA Award for Drama and the L. Arnold Weissberger Award. The Body of an American premiered at Portland Center Stage, directed by Bill Rauch, and received its European premiere in an extended run at the Gate Theatre in London in 2014, in a co-production with Royal & Derngate Theatre in Northampton, England, directed by James Dacre. The Body of an American will be produced by the Wilma Theatre in the 2014-2015 season. O'Brien is currently under commission from Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles to write a play-with-music on the history of the California economy with Grammy-winning composer Quetzal Flores, as well as an American Revolutions joint-commission from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Public Theatre on the history of the gun in America. 

War Reporter, O'Brien's debut collection of poetry, was published in 2013 with Hanging Loose Press in Brooklyn and CB Editions in London. War Reporter received the 2013 Fenton Aldeburgh First Collection Prize and was shortlisted for the 2013 Forward Prize for Best First Collection, both in the UK. War Reporter has also been nominated for a 2013 Pushcart Prize.

ED BOK LEE is the author of Whorled, winner of an American Book Award, and a Minnesota Book Award, and Real Karaoke People, winner of a PEN/Open Book Award, and an Asian American Literary Award (Members' Choice).
The son of Korean emigrants — his mother originally from what is now North Korea (via China); his father from South Korea — Lee holds an MFA from Brown University, and has worked as a phys ed instructor, bartender, journalist and translator throughout the U.S. and abroad.

In addition to writing poems, short stories, and essays, his plays have been seen at major regional and national theaters including the Guthrie Theater, New York Theater Workshop, Joseph Papp Public Theater, Theater Mu, Taipei Theater, Trinity Repertory Company, and the Walker Art Center.
